Sportsmen's Night, 'Hams-N-Hymns" among community events this weekend

Community events

Rogersville Baptist Temple will hold Sportsmen’s Night from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday. The event will feature a 3-D archery competition and a taxidermy contest with prizes awarded in the categories of deer, fish and other. Mitchell Johnston, grand national calling champion, will speak. Door prizes, food and fellowship also will be available.

Kendricks Creek United Methodist Church, 1000 Kendrick Creek Road, will hold its quarterly “Music and a Meal” on Wednesday. The theme this month will be “Hams-N-Hymns” with the meal starting at 6 p.m. and music at 7 p.m.

Giveaway

Marathon Ministry in partnership with Hope Christian Ministries, Duffield, Va., will give away new children’s clothing, winter coats, toys, children’s books, adults shoes and clothing beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday at Hope Christian Ministries Center, 321 Mechanic St., across from McDonald’s, Duffield. Children must be present with adults to receive the children’s items. Other items will be for sale with proceeds going to disaster relief in the area. Donations may be mailed to Marathon Ministry, P.O. Box 1815, Gate City, Va. 24251.

Fund-raisers

Arcadia United Methodist Church, 3954 Bloomingdale Road, Kingsport, will hold a country breakfast, sponsored by the men’s group, from 7 to 10 a.., Saturday. The menu includes homemade biscuits and gravy. The cost is a suggested donation is $7.

Rock Springs United Methodist Church, 227 Church View Drive, Kingsport, will hold a bean supper from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday in the fellowship hall. The menu includes soup beans, fried potatoes, coleslaw, cornbread and desserts. All proceeds will go to the church food pantry.
