YWCA Bristol is currently accepting referrals for the Moms-R-Us teen pregnancy program, which offers free support and education classes to teen parents.
Prepared childbirth classes are held at the YWCA’s 106 State St. facility. Each teen parent will receive a free baby item at each class session, and participants who attend all classes will receive their choice of a free convertible infant/toddler car seat or Pack N Play.
“Becoming a parent as a teenager is a life-altering experience for the teens as well as their families,” said Tammy Henkel, director of mission advancement at YWCA Bristol. “Our mission is to improve the health and wellness of teens and their babies by supporting healthy decisions during pregnancy and beyond.”
Ongoing support and parenting classes give young moms and dads essential knowledge and skills to help them adapt to their new roles. Moms-R-Us participants also receive first priority in the YWCA Children’s Center, the only child care facility in Bristol to offer fees based on household income.
