BLOUNTVILLE — A Bristol man was hospitalized with serious injuries following a brutal Sunday assault in far northeast Sullivan County, while three of his four alleged attackers now face charges of attempted murder.
Two of the suspects were apprehended Tuesday night, while the other two — including the father of the victim's fiancee— remain at large.
A police report at the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office says the incident occurred at 809 Wyatt Hollow Road, the residence of both the victim and two of the suspects. At approximately 4:40 a.m., officers responding to the scene — east of South Holston Lake in the Cherokee National Forest — were flagged down by individuals in a vehicle.
Inside the pickup, police reportedly found the victim, 32, accompanied by his fiancee. An incident report says he had "visible injuries to his entire face" and was bleeding from his eyes, nose and lips.
They told police that an "argument" had erupted at the Wyatt Hollow Road home. Details of the alleged dispute were not specified in the police report.
When the victim walked out of the residence, according to his statements to police, he was "attacked" by the other individuals. One man allegedly choked him, while his fiancee's father and a woman reportedly kicked and punched him. During the incident he was also allegedly bitten and struck with a baseball bat.
The man was transported to Bristol Regional Medical Center for treatment. That same night, four officers went to the home on Wyatt Hollow Road to try to interview the suspects, but no one could be immediately located.
On Tuesday night, two of the suspects were located and arrested without incident. Brian White, 33, and Christina King, 27, each of 793 Wyatt Hollow Road, are charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault.
Police say they are continuing to search for the other two suspects in the incident. Thomas Hopkins, 51, of 809 Wyatt Hollow Road, also faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault. Police say Hopkins is the father of the victim's fiancee.
Hopkins' girlfriend, Amber Stuart, 32, also of 809 Wyatt Hollow Road, is wanted for aggravated assault.
Police report Stuart and Hopkins could possibly be armed. Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office at (423) 279-7500, ext. 222. Tips can also be submitted anonymously at www.scsotn.com
