Nothing breaks you out of the winter blues like some downright silly, high-spirited behavior — something Webster might refer to as “Shenanigans.”
Frolicking fun and folly will take center stage as the cast and crew of “Shenanigans 2014” bring their crazy antics to LampLight Theatre for two weekends chock full of knee-slapping comedy, music and dancing.
Evening performances of the musical variety show will be held at 7 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays, March 7-9 and 14-16, with matinee performances at 2 p.m., Saturdays and 3 p.m., Sundays, both weekends. Doors open one hour prior to the show.
Reservations are suggested. The cost of admission for all performances is a suggested donation of $10 for adults and $5 for students. Children 5 and younger are admitted free.
Presented in Vaudeville style, “Shenanigans” is a humorous, turn-of-the-century musical revue designed to take audiences on a stroll down memory lane. This year’s production will pay tribute to entertainment legends Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke with numbers including “Spoonful of Sugar,” “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” “Hushabye Mountain,” “Doll on a Box” and “My Favorite Things” from their performances in the musicals “Mary Poppins,” “The Sound of Music” and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.”
With a diverse cast ranging in age from youth to senior adults, the show is suitable for and intended as a family production, with something for all ages.
