Dustin Lynch to headline Rogersville's Fourth of July

DUSTIN LYNCH

ROGERSVILLE — Continuing its tradition of bringing top name entertainment to Rogersville, the city’s Fourth of July Committee has announced that this year’s headliner will be Dustin Lynch.

Lynch’s self-titled debut album hit number one on the country charts in 2012, and the top single on the album, “Cowboys and Angels,” hit number two and was certified “Platinum.”

At the 2012 American Country Awards, Lynch was nominated for Single of the Year: New Artist for “Cowboys and Angels” and Music Video of the Year: New Artist for “Cowboys and Angels.”

At the 2013 CMT Music Awards, he was also nominated for Breakthrough Video of the Year for “Cowboys and Angels.”

Lynch will close out a full day of free entertainment during the Rogersville Fourth of July celebration, which is actually taking place on Saturday, July 5, at Rogersville City Park.

Also taking the stage that day is two-time Grammy nominated contemporary Christian artist Matthew West.

West will perform at 6:30 p.m., followed by Lynch at 8:30 p.m. The day-long free festival will conclude with one of the biggest fireworks shows in the Southeast after Lynch’s concert.

“We have essentially been working since last year’s celebration to get our lineup and activities planned for 2014,” said committee chairman Dr. Blaine Jones. “We are planning to have a great week of festivities for our area and we expect everything will be free of charge again this year.”

Jones said the committee is working to plan events for each day from July 1 through July 5. He said the committee hopes to have the plans finalized and announced in the very near future.

The annual Rogersville Fourth of July parade is tentatively planned for Friday, July 4, with other downtown activities that day to be announced later.

On July 2, the Expecting God’s Help group is planning to host another Community Wide Patriotic Prayer Service.

Participation from other local nonprofit organizations, including the Rogersville Arts Council and the Rogersville Heritage Association, will be in discussion as well.

The Rogersville Fourth of July celebration is a free day of fun and activities for all to enjoy.

It is part of the umbrella group Four Square, Inc., which is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization.

The event is paid for through sponsorships and donations.

If you would like to make a donation you may do so by sending it to the Rogersville 4th of July Celebration, P.O. Box 35, Rogersville, TN 37857.
