KINGSPORT — Social studies textbooks in the city school system are up for adoption, but before that they are up for public inspection this week.
Before making a recommendation to the Kingsport Board of Education for adoption, a textbook committee is seeking community input on potential selection today and Friday, according to a Wednesday news release from the school system.
The Kingsport City Schools local textbook selecting committee for K-12 social studies is considering the following publishers, and the following textbooks will be displayed for elementary social studies courses:
The following textbooks will be displayed for middle school social studies courses:
And the following textbooks will be displayed for high school social studies courses:
The recommended textbooks will be on display for public viewing today and Friday at Kingsport City Schools Administrative Support Center, 400 Clinchfield St., Suite. 200, 2nd floor — Heritage Room, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Final textbook recommendations will be made to the Kingsport Board of Education in March. The school board must approve the textbooks by vote at both the March and April meetings, as the final adoption or adoptions of school system textbooks is due in Nashville by mid-April.comments powered by Disqus
