Churches plan services this weekend

Services

Salem United Methodist Church, located at the intersection of Bloomingdale and Boozy Creek roads, Central Heights community of Sullivan County, will hold services Sunday, Feb. 23, with the Rev. Will Shewey preaching at the 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., services, and the Rev. Scott Spence speaking and giving testimony during the 1:30 p.m. JOY service. Dayspring Band will provide music at JOY. Lunch will be served in the fellowship hall after the 10.45 a.m. service. Donations for the lunch are appreciated.

Cox’s Chapel Church will hold services Sunday, Feb. 23, with Earl Hulse preaching at 10 a.m. and Delmo Jesse preaching at 6 p.m. A midweek service is held at 6 p.m., Thursday.

Lynn Garden Chapel, Aesque Extension, Kingsport, will hold services Sunday, Feb. 23, with Paul Strong preaching at 11 a.m., and Bob Cole preaching at 6 p.m. Sunday school begins at 10 a.m.

Boones Creek United Methodist Church, 110 Mary St., off Highway 36, will hold a service at 10:45 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 23, with the message “Making Each Day Count — Facing Reality.” Sunday school for all ages begins at 9:30 a.m., with a time of fellowship at 10:30 a.m. Bible study is held at 6 p.m., Sundays, with the current study focusing on the biblical book Job. A contemporary worship service is held at 7:30 p.m., Wednesdays.

Glenwood Community Church, 2524 McMurray Hollow Road, Hiltons, Va., will hold services Sunday, Feb. 23, with Ronnie Horne preaching at 11 a.m and Kenneth Neeley preaching at 6 p.m.

Durham’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church will hold a service at 11 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 23, with Donald Harding and the Harding Family.

Norton United Methodist Church, 8th Street at Virginia Avenue, will celebrate the seventh Sunday after Epiphany during the 11 a.m., service Sunday, Feb. 23. The handbell choir will present special music. The church also leads weekly outreach worship at 10 a.m., Sundays at Mountain View Regional Medical Center.

Apostolic Lighthouse Church, Shipps Spring Road, Kingsport, will hold a service at 11 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 23, with guest speaker, Preacher Bill Cody, preaching on “The Peace and Joy of God.”

Full Gospel Mission Church, 740 E. Sevier Ave., Kingsport, will hold a service at 11 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 23, with the Rev. Ricardo Dorcean speaking.

Lynn Garden Evangelical Methodist Church will hold services Sunday, Feb. 23, with the Rev. Earl Miller preaching at both. On Wednesday nights, the church is holding a study of the biblical book of Daniel.

Hales Chapel United Methodist Church will present a Black History Month program, performed by the youth, at 4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 23.

Speers Ferry Church will hold a service at 6 p.m., Sunday with T.J. Hood preaching and the McPherson Family singing.

Daryl Reed, lead minister of the DC Regional Christian Church in Forestville, Md., will speak twice at Milligan College on Thursday. He will speak at 11 a.m. in the Mary B. Martin Auditorium of Seeger Memorial Chapel. His sermon topic is titled “What Matters Most.” Reed also will speak at 7 p.m. in the Village Community Room in Jeanes Hall. His evening topic is titled “Amazing — How Grace Got Me Going.” Both events are free and open to the public.
