Churches plan meetings, fund-raisers

Meeting

Kingsport District United Methodist Fellowship will meet Monday, Feb. 24, at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 2600 E. Center St., Kingsport. A covered-dish meal will begin at 6 p.m., with the business meeting and program following. Carl Matherly will speak on Resurrection, the annual youth gathering in Gatlinburg, and parish youth ministry.

Fund-raisers

Rye Cove Community Church will hold its monthly Friday night fish fry beginning at 4 p.m., Friday, Feb. 21. The fish fry was postponed until this week due to inclement weather. The menu consists of Alaskan fish, chicken strips, barbecue chicken, beans, fries, slaw, hush puppies and desserts. The cost is $8 for those 13 and older, and $5 for children 6 to 12. Children 5 and younger eat free.

Fairview United Methodist Church, 878 Highway 81 North, will hold a soup supper from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 21. Proceeds will benefit the youth department.

McFerrin United Methodist Church, 117 Mountain View Road, Church Hill, will present “Dinner & a Movie,” sponsored by the McMerrin UMC Fellowship Group, from 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22. The menu consists of hamburgers with all the fixings, potato salad or potato chips, baked beans, coleslaw, dessert and a drink. Cost is by donation. Following dinner, the movie “Flywheel,” from the makers of “Fireproof” and “Courageous,” will be shown and popcorn served. Proceeds benefit the Fellowship Group’s community outreach projects.
