Area churches plan variety of conferences, community events

Community event

Oak Grove Baptist Church, 311 Cypress St., Mount Carmel will present its annual Valentine banquet, “The Andy Griffith Show,” at 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 14 and Saturday, Feb. 15 and at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 16.
Conference

Women’s event

The Kingsport Christian Women’s Connection will hold a “Love is in the Air” ladies luncheon on Thursday, Feb. 20. The event, which will be held at The Press Room at Food City, 300 Clinchfield St., will begin with registration at 10:30 a.m. The buffet opens at 11 a.m., and the meeting will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jean Watkins from Decatur, Ala., will present lovely organizational skills in “How Not to be a Hoarder” as well as “How to Get Your Life in Order.” John Powers of Kingsport will provide music. The cost of the luncheon is $13. To make reservations, call Evelyn at 246-9047 or Joyce at 246-5447, or email Theresaarcher@comcast.net Reservations are requested by noon, Tuesday, and cancellations by noon, Wednesday. Kingsport Christian Women’s Connection is affiliated with Stonecroft Ministries (www.stonecroft.org) In case of inclement weather, the Kingsport Christian Women’s Connection follows the Sullivan County Schools snow schedule. If schools are closed for snow, the luncheon will be canceled.

Fund-raiser

Fairview United Methodist Church, 878 Highway 81 North, Jonesborough, will hold a country breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 15. Cost is by donation.
