KPD seeking information on shoplifting suspects

KINGSPORT  — The Kingsport Police Department is looking for two men who stole six computers by putting them in a cardboard box used for a grill set and then paying $11, according to a press release.

The incident happened at the Wal-Mart on Stone Drive when two white male suspects opened a cardboard box, which contained an inexpensive grill set.

After removing the contents from the box, the two suspects allegedly put six computer tablets inside the box. The pair resealed the container and paid the $11 for the grill set.

In the news release, the KPD said this is a common practice used by shoplifters.

The suspects may be driving a compact red or maroon four-door hatchback or station wagon, which the KPD believes may be a Subaru Legacy or Subaru Forester.

Anyone who can identify the men are asked to contact the KPD Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111.
