Sword threat prompts Kingsport man's arrest

James Puckett Jr.

A Kingsport man was arrested on Saturday after allegedly threatening a man with a large sword, according to a police report.

James Puckett Jr., 28, 3929 Lynda Lane, Apt. 2, Kingsport, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and criminal trespassing.

The incident began on Saturday when officers were dispatched to Pinecrest Apartments. According to the police report, the victim was visiting his girlfriend at Pinecrest. Puckett allegedly approached the victim while holding a large sword and said, "I'm going to get you."

Puckett then reportedly walked away cursing the victim and swinging the sword violently.

The apartment complex owner arrived and told officers that Puckett had been banned from the apartment property approximately four months prior to the incident, the police news release stated.

Officers located Puckett about a block away and he was taken into custody without incident.
