Adam H. Roberts, 35
KINGSPORT — A Kingsport man is accused of trying to break through his neighbor’s door and pointing a rifle barrel through a crack to “blow someone’s head off.”
Adam H. Roberts, 35, of 892½ Lynn Garden Drive, is charged with four counts of aggravated assault in the early Wednesday incident.
According to a Kingsport Police Department incident report, a female said she had been called by Roberts, and he said he was on his way to assault several individuals.
Roberts was soon heard screaming outside the alleged victim’s home, 896 Lynn Garden Drive. He reportedly said that he was “coming inside” and would “kill every one of them.”
Besides the complainant, three additional adults were inside the residence, along with a sleeping juvenile. The arrest record lists no motive for Roberts’ alleged actions, including kicking and hitting a door to try and make entry. Police later observed a hole in the door, while its frame and hinge were broken.
Individuals inside the home struggled to keep Roberts out, reportedly pushing on the door from the inside to keep it closed. That’s when he allegedly pointed a .22 rifle through a crack in the door and screamed that he was going to “blow someone’s head off.”
Roberts wasn’t able to get inside and fled as police were arriving. He was soon located nearby, arrested and transported to the city jail.
No one was injured in the incident. The rifle Roberts allegedly wielded was located at his apartment and seized as evidence.
