Feeling a little blue about those broken New Year’s resolutions? Well, Kmart and Sears have a new “blue light” special to help you redeem yourself!
Was one of your New Year’s resolutions to save money? That one always seems to make the list at my house along with exercise more. I do a little better with one of those than the other…Most of us spend money on those resolutions, and couponers never want to pay full price…even for our resolutions.
Andrea Woroch, nationally recognized consumer trends analyst and money-saving expert, estimates that nearly half of Americans indicate that buying new products helps them stay motivated and meet their resolutions. So, the big question is: “If I am in that half, how am I going to meet my resolution and stay in my budget?”
Kmart and Sears are offering a new program that can boost savings in this area. According to a press release issued by Sears Holdings on Jan. 21 entitled “More than Half of Americans Have Already Given Up on their New Year’s Resolutions: Redeem Shop Your Way points on Motivating Deals from Sears and Kmart to Stay on Track and Save,” nearly 53 percent of Americans had given up on their resolutions by the third week of January. Kmart and Sears have introduced “Resolve to Redeem” deals through their “Shop Your Way” rewards program to help you meet your New Year’s resolutions.
Remember, you need to redeem your "Shop Your Way" points by Jan. 31 at this "Shop Your Way" link.
Some of the popular resolutions that the rewards program is targeting include:
• Losing Weight
• Finding a New Job
• Eating Healthier
• Managing Stress
• Improving a Romantic Relationship
• Ending Procrastination
We all know that loyalty cards and reward programs can save money. Last week, we learned a little about how to save at Kmart. The “Shop Your Way” program is a critical component to saving on everything at Kmart and Sears. “Shop Your Way” is a shopping/reward program that offers personalized deals, product reviews, rewards, and coupons throughout the year. You can take advantage of the program in store, at home, online and by phone. Remember, if you are shopping on-line, always go through ebates (www.ebates.com) and earn instant cash back. This is another way to “stack” your savings. Points can be redeemed at any time, but do have an expiration date. Members gain access to special deals and personalized offers by using the “Shop Your Way” app to “Shop’In” when they are near a Sears or Kmart. You can download the free “Shop Your Way” app via iTunes or Google Play.
You can stack the “Resolve to Redeem” promotions with coupons, gift cards, promotional money back opportunities, and earned points to maximize your savings.
This is an area of the budget that really comes down to wants verses needs. Don’t let your resolutions break your budget. Feel free to leave comments with tips about meeting resolutions while keeping a budget. Know of any free or cheap exercise classes? Know of a resume writing seminar coming up? Share the knowledge!
