Jeffrey Scott Brooks.
A Northeast Tennessee man has been indicted on more than six dozen counts of sex crimes against minors, stemming from the alleged discovery of child porn while he was previously living in Kingsport.
Jeffrey Scott Brooks, 39, of 1153 Highway 321 in Hampton, was arrested Friday on a warrant in Carter County. He has since been transported to the Sullivan County jail in Blountville.
On Jan. 15 a Sullivan County grand jury returned true bills against Brooks on 79 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. The now unsealed indictment states the incidents occurred on or around May 10 of 2012, with the images containing a minor engaged in simulated sexual activity that's "patently offensive."
At that time Brooks was living in Kingsport. The Kingsport Police Department investigated the case.
According to Sullivan County Assistant District Attorney William Harper, a cell phone and computer owned by Brooks were seized by authorities. They were then sent to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation lab for analysis, with the results needed to proceed with presenting of the case to a grand jury.
On Monday morning Brooks remained jailed on $100,000 bond.
