SURGOINSVILLE — Two teenagers were killed in a single vehicle wreck that injured the driver, and criminal charges are pending prior to a meeting between investigating officers and the district attorney, according to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report.
The following details are from a preliminary accident report from THP as of Saturday afternoon.
Killed were Lacota M. Allison, 18, of Church Hill, and William R. Nauert, 18, of Surgoinsville.
Allison and Nauert were passengers in a 1991 Ford F150 being driven by a 17-year-old male, of Surgoinsville. The THP report does not identify the juvenile.
The truck was eastbound and near 3120 Kingsport Highway when it left the right side of the roadway, struck a mailbox, continued eastbound and struck two culverts. After striking the second culvert, the truck went airborne, struck a utility pole and came to a rest just east of the utility pole.
During the crash, Allison — not wearing a seat belt — was ejected, and Nauert, wearing a seat belt, was trapped in the truck.
The wreck, reported at 11:24 p.m. Friday, remained under investigation.
