FTA warrant leads HCSO to large stash of marijuana, cash and ‘gravel’

BRANDON LEE HAGA

KINGSPORT — Hawkins County deputies attempting to arrest a man Sunday for failure to appear in court ended up taking six people to jail and allegedly seizing three pounds of marijuana, “gravel,” more than $3,500 in cash and drug sale ledgers.

Sunday afternoon, the HCSO responded to 206 Ramey Town Road in unincorporated Hawkins County just north of Allandale to serve a Sullivan County FTA (failure to appear) warrant on Brandon Lee Haga, 24, of that address, who has pending drug and weapon charges in Kingsport.

Upon their arrival, deputies encountered several other people in their search for Haga.

Haga was eventually located in one of two mobile homes on the property. In the meantime, however, deputies had also gone to a second mobile home on the property and knocked on the door.

Sheriff Ronnie Lawson stated in a report that deputies heard several people in that second trailer and also smelled marijuana. Search warrants were obtained for both dwellings.

In the trailer where Haga was located, deputies allegedly seized plastic baggies of gravel packaged for resale, cash, drug ledgers, and  cell phones containing evidence of substantial synthetic drug sales.

In the other trailer deputies allegedly found nearly three pounds of packaged marijuana in the air ducts, as well as other small baggies of marijuana throughout the home. A small assortment of Buprenorphine pills and cash was also recovered.

Hawkins County Sheriff’s deputies and narcotics officers, as well as multiple Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office narcotics officers worked throughout the night Sunday searching the two mobile homes.

Among those charged were:

•Haga, who was charged with possession of gravel with intent to deliver, maintaining a dwelling where narcotics are housed or sold, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held in the Hawkins County Jail on $100,000 bond.

•Jeremy Heath Stewart, 26, 206 Ramey Town Road, for possession of gravel with intent to deliver, maintaining a dwelling where narcotics are housed or sold, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held in the Hawkins County Jail on $100,000 bond.
