Sullivan County inmate charged with escape

BLOUNTVILLE — An inmate with the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office tried to escape during a doctor's visit, according to a press release.

Jenny Frye, 30, Duffield, was charged with escape. She was originally charged with identity theft and violation of probation.

The incident happened on Thursday when corrections officers with the SCSO transported Frye to the Bristol Regional Medical Center for a doctor's visit, the press release said.

When officers were escorting Frye back to the transport vehicle around 7:30, Frye pulled away from the officer and began running through the parking lot. The officer ran after her and apprehended her. Security officers with Bristol Regional assisted in the capture.

She was transported back to the Sullivan County Correctional Facility and charged with escape.
