New Hawkins inmate allegedly found with pills

TRACIE ELLEN MORELOCK

ROGERSVILLE — A Kingsport woman who pleaded guilty Wednesday in Hawkins County to charges including forgery, failure to appear and possession of drug paraphernalia, was allegedly found in possession of pills as she was being booked into the Hawkins County Jail to begin serving a 90-day sentence.

According to a report filed by jail officer Sherie Hutson, officers were conducting a strip search of Tracie Ellen Morelock, 40, 1616 Charles St., Kingsport, as Morelock was changing into her jail uniform.

The officer ordered Morelock to “squat and cough” — and when she did, three pills in a plastic wrap allegedly fell onto the floor. Morelock was charged with introduction of contraband into a penal institution, and is scheduled for arraignment on that charge Monday in Sessions Court.
