BIG STONE GAP — The Wise County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday said deputies nabbed a fugitive at a Big Stone Gap residence that also contained a meth lab on Wednesday.
The sheriff’s office said Shawn Michael Robey, 33, was wanted in Wise County on two capias warrants revoking bond in Wise County, as well as a surety capias and a shoplifting charge, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor and giving false information to police in Dickenson County.
Upon receiving information Robey may be hiding out at 1411 Panoramic Road in Big Stone Gap, deputies received consent to search the residence and found Robey hiding in a downstairs closet. He was taken into custody without incident.
The deputies also found an active meth lab in the home. Deputies evacuated the residence and contacted the Southwest Virginia Drug Task Force. One active lab was discovered as well as evidence of previous meth production activity. The investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending.
