The 10 most viewed crime stories from 2013

There were a lot of interesting crime stories that took place during 2013. The stories that made this list had at least 13,000 page views on our website. Some notable stories got left out because we could only choose 10. Below you will find the 10 most viewed crime stories from the past year. 


1. Woman hospitalized to remove stolen $5,000 from rectum 

A theft charge is pending against a Hawkins County woman who allegedly stole $5,000 from her boyfriend and was then hospitalized for injuries suffered attempting to remove the cash from her “hiding place.”

2. Hawkins woman allegedly fires at seven people, including children, for turning around in her driveway

A Virginia couple who took their five children on an outing at Bays Mountain Park Sunday afternoon were greeted with gunfire shortly after crossing the Hawkins County line in an attempt to take a scenic route home.

3. KPD: Passed out parents charged with child neglect at the Kingsport Aquatic Center

A Bristol, Tenn., couple have been arrested at the Kingsport Aquatic Center after they were reportedly found passed out in a vehicle — one naked, the other with her breast exposed — leaving their young children unattended for at least three hours.

Legendary Late Model dirt racer Scott Bloomquist is under investigation by the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Department for allegedly threatening to shoot or drown an employee of his Mooresburg race shop last month.

6. KPD says car going 104 mph in fiery crash on Fort Henry Drive Saturday

Kingsport crash reconstructionists said one vehicle was traveling 104 mph when it struck an SUV, causing a fiery crash on Fort Henry Drive and claiming one life, the Kingsport Police Department said today.

7. Mother, boyfriend arrested in 'severe' abuse of 14-month-old

A Scott County mother and her boyfriend have been arrested in connection with the "severe abuse" of her 14-month-old son, who reportedly had two black eyes and was found living in deplorable conditions.

8. Police: Hawkins man caught at 3 a.m. with children he met on Facebook

A 20-year-old Hawkins County man is facing charges including contributing to the delinquency of a minor after an early morning traffic stop Saturday revealed him to have three 13-year-old girls in his vehicle whom he allegedly met on Facebook.
