NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — An Alabama minister wanted in connection with the death of his wife has been arrested at the Nashville International Airport trying to leave the country.
An affidavit said Richard Shahan was "red-flagged" when he booked a flight to Frankfurt, Germany. He was arrested as a fugitive from justice on Wednesday by Homeland Security and jailed in Davidson County.
Shahan's wife, Karen Shahan, was found dead in the couple's home in Homewood, Ala., on July 23 after she failed to show up for work.
Police questioned Richard Shahan in August but released him.
Homewood police said in a news release that they issued an arrest warrant for Shahan on Tuesday "in the murder of his wife." They say Shahan was on his way to Russia when he was intercepted.
