Former D-B standout Garber dies at 50

FLOWER MOUND, Texas — Former Dobyns-Bennett basketball standout Lee Garber Jr. died on Dec. 21, according to the website of Dalton & Son Funeral Home in Lewisville, Texas. He was 50.

Garber, born in Memphis on July 11, 1963, was a key member of the 1980-81 Tribe team that went 36-1.

After graduating from Dobyns-Bennett, he played for Wake Forest from 1981-85, and was a member of the Demon Deacons team that reached the NCAA tournament’s Elite Eight his junior season.

Garber is survived by his wife, Carolyn, son Garrett Coles Garber and daughters McKenzie Anne Garber and Lindsay Marie Garber.

A memorial service for Garber was held Friday at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Flower Mound.
