BRISTOL, Tenn. — Christmas is not over for area basketball fans.
Three tournaments get under way today with plenty of games to pick from.
The 31st Arby’s Classic tips off Thursday afternoon at 1 o’clock when Sullivan East will take on tournament champion Urspring School from Germany.
Sullivan South meets United Faith Christian Academy from North Carolina at 2:30 and Tabernacle Baptist from the Bahamas faces Greater Atlanta Christian at 4.
Next up will be Johnson County, which will go up against Hamilton at 5:30. Dobyns-Bennett will then square off against Oakland out of Murfreesboro at 7 with Mentor, Ohio taking on Oak Ridge in the day’s final contest at 8:30.
In Kingsport, the seventh annual New Peoples Bank Holiday Classic, hosted by Sullivan North, begins at 4 p.m. Thursday with Volunteer taking on Cloudland. Elizabethton meets Lee High at 5:30.
Chuckey-Doak will take on Morristown West at 7 followed by Sullivan North and Cherokee at 8:30.
Daniel Boone will host the annual Johnson City Honda Girls Classic beginning Thursday morning.
Sixteen teams from Tennessee and Virginia are entered in this year’s tournament. The opening game, which begins at 10 a.m., will see Johnson County going against Cherokee.
Sullivan South takes on Unaka at 11:30 followed by Cloudland and South Doyle at 1 p.m.
David Crockett meets Hampton at 2:30 with Happy Valley taking on Meigs County at 4.
University High plays Sevier County at 5:30 followed by Creek Wood from Charlotte, Tenn., and Sullivan East at 7.
The nightcap will feature Daniel Boone and Eastside at 8:30.
On Friday, Arby’s action continues with the winner of Sullivan East’s game against Urspring taking on Milton, Ga. at 4 p.m. Christ School from North Carolina takes on host Tennessee High at 5:30.
Gate City will swing into action at 7 p.m. when the Blue Devils square off against Christ Presbyterian.
In the day’s final contest, Peachtree Ridge, Ga., will play the winner of South’s game against United Faith Christian Academy.
The Peoples Bank Classic will play semifinal games on Friday with the tournament wrapping up on Saturday.
Boone’s Johnson City Honda Classic runs through Monday, Dec. 30.
Arby’s games will continue on Saturday with consolation and semifinal action on Monday and the championship game set for 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 31.
