WEBER CITY — Scott County authorities are searching for a possible suspect who reportedly used a knife to carryout an armed robbery Sunday night at a gas station near Weber City.
According to Scott County Sheriff John Puckett the incident occurred at 10:16 p.m. Sunday at FastMart No. 442, which is located on U.S. Route 23 between the Weber City town limits and the Tennessee state line.
Puckett said the clerk on duty at the time of the alleged robbery told authorities that a white male wearing a hooded sweatshirt entered the store brandishing what she described as a "long knife."
The store clerk told Scott County investigators she gave the suspect $170 from the store's cash register before he fled the scene on foot.
Puckett said investigators were unable to use video footage to identify the suspect because the store's surveillance cameras had reportedly stopped working around 3 p.m. Sunday.
Following the reported robbery, officers from the Scott County Sheriff's Office, Weber City Police Department and Gate City Police Department were all dispatched the store.
A tracking dog from the Lee Federal Prison in Jonesville was also called in to aid in tracking the robbery suspect.
Puckett said officers searched the area around the FastBreak until the early hours of Monday morning without managing to locate the suspect. Officers were reportedly still searching for a possible suspect shortly before noon Monday.
Puckett said an investigation into the robbery is ongoing and being carried out by the Scott County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Unit.
Puckett said anyone with information pertaining to the incident should contact the Scott County Sheriff's Office at (276) 386-7679 or Scott County Central Dispatch at (276) 386-9111.
