BLOUNTVILLE — The list of candidates and would-be nominees for Sullivan County elected offices on the ballot next year has grown over the past couple of weeks.

As of close of business Friday, the Sullivan County Election Commission pickup or filings of paperwork were as follows:

 COUNTY MAYOR

Sullivan County Mayor Steve Godsey, a two-term Republican, has filed the necessary paperwork to seek his party’s nomination to run for re-election.

Mark Vance, a former county commissioner who challenged Godsey for the GOP nomination four years ago, has picked up the paperwork indicating he will challenge Godsey again.

PROPERTY ASSESSOR

Republican Ron Hillman, a longtime employee of the property assessor’s office who was appointed property assessor by the Sullivan County Commission earlier this year to finish out the term of Bobby Icenhour, who retired, has picked up to seek the GOP nomination to run for the office.
