KINGSPORT — Wellmont Health System announced Wednesday it has acquired Wexford House, a 174-bed skilled and long-term care nursing facility serving the Kingsport area.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Wexford House, which employs more than 200 people, was managed by RHA Health Services.
Wellmont, in advisories sent to media outlets, billed the announcement as one of “regional significance.”
Wellmont President and CEO Denny DeNarvaez said the move will build on an existing professional relationship.
“This expanded partnership will empower us to deliver the same superior care with compassion beginning in our hospitals and continuing in one of our region’s finest post-acute settings,” DeNarvaez said in a prepared release.
Care provided at Wexford House includes respiratory services, hospice, skilled nursing care and short-term stays. The facility, located off John B. Dennis Highway, also provides inpatient and outpatient physical therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy, according to Wellmont.
