CHURCH HILL — The Wednesday morning discovery of a dead man outside of a Church Hill residence has spurred an investigation by local and state authorities, with "persons of interest" reportedly being interviewed in the case.
Church Hill Police Chief Mark Johnson says the body of an 18-year-old male was located at approximately 11 a.m. It was reportedly outside a mobile home on Burlington Road, and appears to have been in the elements for "several hours."
A press release from Johnson reports the man's next of kin has been notified. However, police are currently declining to identify him to the media.
"We are in the preliminary stages of the investigation and are interviewing persons of interest in the case, " Johnson states in the press release.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Hawkins County Sheriff's Department are assisting in the investigation. Johnson says an autopsy has been ordered to determine the manner of death, and no additional information is expected to be released at this time.
