Accumulating snowfall expected to begin Wednesday morning

Tuesday's widespread rain is expected to turn to snow beginning early Wednesday morning, bringing accumulations of one to three inches across most of the region.  

The National Weather Service in Morristown, Tenn., has scheduled a winter weather advisory to begin at midnight tonight and last through 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Total snow of one to three inches is expected over that period, with more accumulation in higher elevations.  Snow showers are expected to last throughout Wednesday.

The NWS warns that driving and walking may be difficult on untreated roadways and sidewalks, while motorists should give themselves extra time to reach their destinations.

Tuesday's precipitation across most of Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia is expected to be in the form of rain. Widespread rainfall amount of one to three inches are expected.
