GATE CITY — The holidays are fast approaching and that means the Scott County Chamber of Commerce’s popular Christmas ornaments are on sale once again.
The 2013 ornaments, which commemorate Scott County’s upcoming bicentennial, went on sale Thursday for $9.95 at Weber City’s Red Roof Discount Center, Quik Stop markets in both Gate City and Weber City, and at the Chamber of Commerce’s Gate City office.
With the county’s 200th birthday beginning at the turn of the year, Scott County Chamber Executive Secretary Penny Horton said it made sense to feature the bicentennial in some way.
The ornament features the Scott County seal in three colors on a green background with the bicentennial date 1814-2014. Scott County was established on Nov. 24, 1814, from parts of Washington, Lee and Russell counties.
Horton said 288 ornaments were ordered for this year’s run.
“They always sell out really quick,” Horton said. “I would guess these will sell out within two weeks.”
Call the chamber office at (276) 386-6665 for more information on the ornaments.
