Christmas at Crossroads

November 18th, 2013 2:55 pm by Tabatha Barnett, community contributor

Crossroads market on Sandy Ridge in Coeburn, Va. is doing the Angel Tree for the families on Sandy Ridge for the second year in a row.

Last year we had 51 kids on our tree and we supplied them with gifts and clothes, and we also assembled food boxes for 31 needy families in our community and 27 fruit baskets for the elderly.

This year we hope to do the same if not more. In our small community there is a great need because we are a small community that depends on coal for our livelihood. Many of our neighbors have been laid off or even terminated from their jobs. So the need is even greater than before.

We are trying to get the word out to gain some extra support as I believe we will need it. Our community needs a little ray of light on what seems to be a dark hour, so any way anyone can help please do.

We are accepting unopened toys, nonperishable food, and of course, any cash donations. Thank you and please remember to spread the joy.
