Johnson City police say gun that man pointed at officer in standoff was plastic

JOHNSON CITY — The gun a Johnson City man pointed at police Thursday after he became irate over a visit from an Animal Control officer turned out to be a black and silver plastic weapon, a court document filed in the case said.

Arnold L. Ebalo, 57, 715 E. Fairview Ave., was arrested after the incident on three counts of aggravated assault and vandalism. He was arraigned on the charges Friday morning in Washington County Sessions Court.

An affidavit filed in court said Animal Control Officer Wayne Thomas went to Ebalo’s residence to investigate a complaint about Ebalo mistreating his animals. When Thomas pulled up in front of the house, Ebalo walked down to the Animal Control truck.
