ROGERSVILLE — Hawkins County’s busiest election year in nearly a decade is coming up in 2014, and many of the county’s Republicans have already publicly announced their candidacy for various offices.
Up for election in 2014 are all 21 Hawkins County Commission seats, as well as some constable and non-partisan school board seats.
The Third Judicial District circuit judges, chancellor and attorney general seats, which are elected every eight years, are also up for re-election.
The only Hawkins County elected office that isn’t up for re-election in 2014 is the property assessor.
Candidate petitions for the May 6 primary will be available beginning Nov. 22 in the Hawkins County Election Office. The deadline to file for candidacy in the sheriff and road superintendent races is Feb. 6. The deadline for all other candidates to file is Feb. 20 at noon.
