Shortly before noon emergency personnel were scrambled to Tri-Cities Regional Airport, where a small, twin engine Beechcraft plane reportedly exited a runway near the intersection of Highway 75 and Hamilton Road.
Sullivan County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Leslie Earhart says no injuries are believed to have occurred. Airport police are handling the incident with backup provided by multiple county agencies.
Airline officials made an announcement at approximately 12:30 p.m. over the intercom system, saying that the airport will be closed for at least two hours. As of 2:30 p.m. the airport's website (www.triflight.com) was reporting all arrivals and departures were running on time.
Ticket agents were attempting to re-book passengers who had missed connecting flights.
