KINGSPORT — New Traders Village owners and operators Steve Ledford and Buddy Williams promise to freshen up the sales plan at the longtime East Stone Drive flea market.
They plan to use the “A” building on the 21-acre site as a produce market selling both wholesale and retail goods up to seven days a week.
“The wholesale side we hope to get open in the month of November sooner rather than later,” Ledford, of Weaverville, N.C., said. “The retail side we’re not going to open until we get it completely ready which may be somewhere December, January, February. ... It will be open before spring.”
The “B” building, the businessmen said, will continue to be staffed by vendors selling items like knives, leather goods and motorcycle equipment.
“We plan on keeping a flea-market type atmosphere,” Ledford said of the “B” building. “We’re currently renovating everything. We’re trying to make it more user-friendly and have better vendors and a uniform look throughout.”For an expanded version of this article, please see Sunday’s print edition or our expanded electronic edition.
