Crash kills two teens in Bristol, Va.

BRISTOL, Va.  —  Two teenagers were killed and a third was injured in a single-vehicle crash Friday afternoon.

A Virginia State Police spokeswoman said Addison B. Looney, 17, and Colton W. Taylor, 15, were killed in the crash. Both died at the scene of the accident.

A backseat passenger in the vehicle,  Charlie D. Arnie, 18,  was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said the teens were residents of Washington County, Va.

All three also reportedly attended Tennessee High School, where they were members of the Mighty Viking Band. As a result of the accident, the band’s performance at Friday night’s Senior Night game between Tennessee High and Volunteer High School was canceled.

According to state police, the accident occurred at 4:15 p.m. in “The Reserve,” a privately-owned gated community located in Bristol, Va.

Authorities said a 2008 Toyota Prius driven by Looney was traveling north on Reserve Boulevard when it ran off the left side of the road and struck a large stump.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation, the spokeswoman said.
