Police say two men brandishing handguns robbed a Kingsport check cashing business on Friday, handcuffing one clerk and fleeing in the other employee's car.
The incident occurred at 3:35 p.m. at Cash Express, 4200 West Stone Drive. Kingsport Police Department Public Information Officer Tom Patton says the pair entered through the front door with silver handguns and ordered the two female clerks to the ground.
One employee had her hands cuffed behind her back at gunpoint, while the other was told to hand over all their money. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the men then took her car keys and fled the scene in her 2013 Chrysler 200.
Patton says that vehicle was located approximately an hour later in Hawkins County, but the suspects have not been identified or located.
Both are believed to be white males. Patton says the two were well covered in identical clothing. Both reportedly donned red hooded sweatshirts, blue jeans and white cotton gloves.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact KPD detectives at (423) 229-9429 or central dispatch at (423) 246-9111.
