MURFREESBORO — If history is any indication, the Dobyns-Bennett girls soccer team faces a tough draw on Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the TSSAA Class AAA state tournament.
The Lady Indians (16-2-3) take on 11-time state champion Franklin (16-2-5) at 6 p.m. at the Siegel Soccer Complex.
D-B beat Hardin Valley 2-1 in overtime to advance to the state tournament while Franklin held off Clarksville by the same score.
The Lady Rebels' last title was in 2011. D-B won its lone state championship in 1995.
In other quarterfinal matches on Wednesday, Houston plays Oakland, Collierville faces Ravenwood, and Cookeville takes on Farragut.
If the Lady Indians defeat Franklin, their opponent will be the winner of the Houston-Oakland match on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. The championship match is Saturday at noon.
