JOHNSON CITY — The East Tennessee State volleyball team is taking over the Atlantic Sun Conference record book.
Two weeks after senior Megan Devine broke the all-time kills mark, junior Meredith Hardy eclipsed the A-Sun blocks record during the Lady Bucs’ 25-18, 25-23, 25-19 sweep of Kennesaw State on Tuesday night.
ETSU’s win clinched a spot in the conference tournament.
Hardy, a Kingsport native, entered the match needing only two blocks to surpass Campbell’s Rachel Templin for the record, and the middle blocker broke the mark midway through the opening set.
The Dobyns-Bennett High School alum closed the night with nine kills and eight blocks, moving her career total to 429 in 89 career matches played. She has now registered a block in 86 consecutive matches.
ETSU (17-7, 11-1) has won 12 straight home matches. Kennesaw State (10-13, 5-8) saw its two-match winning end.
