BLOUNTVILLE — Trick or treat!
Members of the Sullivan County Election Commission will receive paychecks on Halloween that cover pay raises retroactive to July 1.
According to public information on file with the county’s payroll office: Election Commission Chairman James Holmes will receive a check for $525; Vice Chairman Tom Morton will receive a check for $699; Secretary Betsy Shine will receive a check for $615; and members Leslie Carr and Gerald Castle each will receive a check for $699.
Those amounts represent the “back pay” each is due for the months of July, August and September.
None of the election commission members will be paid for October, because the election commission has not met this month.
The raises, which take all five election commission members to $300 per month, were approved last week by the Sullivan County Commission’s Budget Committee.Read more in Tuesday's print edition of the Times-News or in the expanded electronic edition.
