GATE CITY — An advisory issued earlier this week asking Scott County Public Service authority customers in the Duffield and Fort Blackmore areas to boil tap water before using it was lifted Sunday.
Scott County PSA Director Dan Danko said the boil advisory was called off after two straight days of testing showed no problems with water quality.
The advisory affected customers served by the Duffield waterworks who live east of U.S. Route 23 and north of state Route 65 in Scott County.
State and local health officials instituted the boil notice after a water main near Fort Blackmore split early Thursday morning.
The breakage caused water levels in the area to drop and drained at least one large tank, PSA officials said. The 8-foot split was repaired by Thursday afternoon.
