KINGSPORT — The Salvation of Army of Kingsport, which serves Sullivan and Hawkins counties in Tennessee and Scott County in Virginia, is accepting applications Friday for its Christmas assistance programs.
Applications are being taken for individuals and families seeking help through the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, as well as those seeking food vouchers funded through the Kingsport Times-News Rescue Fund.
Applications are being accepted today from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Salvation Army, 505 Dale St.
Applicants must bring:
• Identification or all adults in household.
• Social Security card for each child.
• Proof of all income.
• Proof of all monthly bills.
• Letter from DHS, SSA or landlord proving all children live in the household.
Also, the person seeking assistance for a child must be the child’s legal guardian.
Salvation Army staff suggest the best paperwork to bring to show the majority of this information is a letter from the food stamp office or from a public housing landlord.
If you do not live in one of the counties served by the Kingsport Salvation Army, contact your local Salvation Army for sign-up information.
