MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — A late rally kept Dobyns-Bennett from an early exit at the TSSAA Class AAA volleyball tournament on Wednesday.
The Lady Indians stumbled in their opening match, losing to Houston 12-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-7.
Dropping into the losers’ bracket, Dobyns-Bennett rallied for a 19-25, 28-26, 23-25, 25-18, 15-11 win over Farragut to keep their hopes alive.
“We just thought to ourselves, ‘we made it to the fifth game, so it’s just a race to 15 and let’s bring it home,” said D-B’s Taylor Henry. “We just fought it out to the very end.”
In the Farragut match, Henry paced the Lady Indians with 18 kills, nine digs and four aces. Makenzee Frohlich added 16 kills, 11 digs and two aces.
Keri Jones dished out 42 assists and added 27 digs for D-B with Lexi Hartsock coming up with 38 digs and Sasha Morrisette 21.
