GREENEVILLE — Sullivan South’s girls soccer season came to an end Tuesday evening with a 4-1 road loss to Greeneville in the Region 1-A/AA semifinals.
The District 2 champion Lady Greene Devils built a 3-1 halftime lead and controlled the ball for almost the entire second half.
Trailing 2-0, the Lady Rebels broke through in the 23rd minute. Kaitlin Barrett slipped free just beyond midfield and drove straight to the goal and hit the shot for South.
“We fought hard and they are a good team, a quality opponent,” Rebels coach Keith Parker said. “But I am proud of how hard we played, and we are going to miss our seniors.”
Greeneville will host Chuckey-Doak on Thursday in the regional finals. Chuckey-Doak defeated University 1-0 on Tuesday to reach the finals.
Thursday’s winner gets to host a TSSAA sectional while the loser must travel to take on the Region 2 champ.
