Dobyns-Bennett robotics team turns to online giving site to fund new laptop

KINGSPORT — Dobyns-Bennett High School’s robotics team is using an online program to seek donations for buying a laptop computer dedicated to robotics use.

It is one of more than a dozen Tri-Cities public schools seeking such online funding.

D-B biology teacher “Amanda Blackburn is the co-captain of the robotics team this year and she wrote up a project on donorschoice.org,” D-B Project Lead the Way engineering teacher and robotics team co-captain Angela Conrad wrote. “We are trying to get a robotics team computer through this donor website by having people donate to the site and once we have enough, they will send us the computer.”

The cost of the computer is listed at $641.09, and the cost of an optional donation to the website of $113.13 brings the total sought to $754.22. The listing will expire Jan. 31.

The website address for the D-B collections is www.donorschoose.org/project/first-robotics-operating-system/1089812/?utm_source=dc&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=proposal_approve.
