KINGSPORT — Kingsport police arrested two juvenile males Friday for their alleged roles in a burglary and vandalism that occurred Thursday at Dobyns-Bennett High School.
The two were charged with burglary, theft and vandalism.
A KPD spokesman said authorities were able to identify and arrest the suspects after receiving calls from numerous citizens who saw the two on security camera footage released to local media.
According to a KPD press release, the pair entered the building through an unsecured door and wrote and drew obscene graffiti on various walls and doors of the interior of the school.
Police say the teens caused approximately $1,000 damage by forcing open a locked commercial freezer in the cafeteria, only to steal some ice cream that was stored inside. The juveniles also allegedly stole two cash boxes from the cafeteria area containing an undetermined amount of cash.
