KINGSPORT — A project to slim down Center Street through downtown Kingsport won’t include closure of Wexler Street.
But Wexler Street’s outlet onto East Center will be narrowed considerably from its current 45-foot width.
And traffic on Wexler will be controlled by a stop sign when entering East Center, rather than the current traffic light.
And traffic from Wexler will be entering East Center several feet west of East Center Street’s updated intersection with East Sullivan Street.
That will be made to happen by moving westward the current pavement markings that show motorists where to stop for the traffic light — as well as moving the traffic light itself.
Those are some details of a plan approved Tuesday by the Kingsport Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
