Pioneers homecoming snack for Wolves

NEWBERRY, S.C.  — Newberry ground out 397 rushing yards  as it trampled visiting Tusculum 44-9 in South Atlantic Conference action Saturday.

Romelo Doctor rushed for 104 yards to lead the unbeaten Wolves (6-0, 4-0), including a 68-yard scoring run. Wesley Brown rushed for 91 yards.

Quarterback W.T. Murden rushed for 87 yards, including a 46-yard TD run that initiated scoring in the first quarter. Murden passed for 116, including scoring strikes of 2 and 69 yards to Corey Washington.

 Tusculum quarterback Bo Cordell passed for 161 yards and rushed for 32.  Tusculum got a 26-yard field goal from Logan Cornelius in the first quarter.

The Pioneers (3-3, 1-2) did not score again until Isaac Robinson’s 6-yard TD run that capped all scoring in the fourth quarter.
