CHURCH HILL — Dobyns-Bennett's volleyball team took home the District 1-AAA tournament championship Thursday with a 21-25,16-25, 25-19, 25-17, 15-7 win over Science Hill.
Tournament MVP Taylor Henry helped bring the Lady Indians come back from a 2-0 deficit.
“After the losses we really came together in the huddle before Game 3 and said we really want this. We want this as a team and lets fight for it and bring it home,” Henry said.
Henry accounted for 17 kills to go along with six blocks and four aces.
Everything in the first two games of the championship match went Science Hill’s way. D-B could not find an answer to the front line of Gabby Lyons, Lakeisha Gregory and Caprisha Webster.
The answer was found in Game 3 when the Lady Indians built a 19-12 lead and coasted in for the win.
Game 4 proved to be even sweeter as D-B jumped out to a 17-3 lead and was never threatened.
