BLOUNTVILLE — David Crockett’s Ryan Burger took command of the offense Friday night and led the Pioneers to a 35-8 win over Sullivan Central.
Burger, who opened up the scoring with a 1-yard dive, passed for 270 yards and three touchdowns.
With Burger in control of the passing game, teammate Dalton Brown rumbled for 161 yards on 26 carries.
“Burger’s maturity is not that of a sophomore I promise you that,” said David Crockett coach Jeremy Bosken. “If there is a better sophomore quarterback in the area I’d be highly surprised.
“His football maturity and leadership maturity are beyond their years.”
After penalties stalled Crockett’s opening drive, the team scored on their next three possession and were able to build a 28-0 halftime lead.
