JONESBOROUGH — The amateurs held off a furious afternoon rally in singles by the professionals to win the fourth annual Food City Tri-Cities Cup Matches 8-7 on Friday.
The event was held at the Blackthorn Club at the Ridges.
The amateurs built a 3.5-1.5 lead in the morning four-ball matches with the professionals winning the afternoon singles matches 5.5-4.5.
It was the second straight win for the amateurs, who now lead the overall series 3-1.
The amateur team is made up of players from the Tri-Cities Amateur Tour’s points standings. The professionals represent the Tri-Cities Chapter of the PGA.
